Mr. Hurley's Bio

Thank you for taking the time to read my biography.  I pride myself on remembering each of my 560+ student's names, so I figured this would be a good place for my students and their parents to read a little bit about me.

I was born and raised in Fort McMurray.  I earned a B.P.E. and B.Ed. from the University of Alberta in 2012 and I have been teaching Physical Education ever since.  I had the privilege to teach Kindergarten-Grade 12 P.E. for two years on a First Nations Reserve called Atikameg. These two years will forever be with me in my professional and personal life.

I am currently in my seventh year of teaching P.E. and I'm happy to be coaching the PEAK Cricket Academy for its third year at Walter & Gladys Hill School.  I am particularly excited to be stepping into my new position of Elementary Technology Coordinator this year.  I will be working with PowerSchool, PowerTeacher Pro, and Google Apps to optimize teachers' and student's learning experiences.

All my students know that I am very fair and will never ask anything of them that I cannot do myself!  In Physical Education, sometimes there are going to be games or activities that you don't wish to participate in and to that I tell students, "You gotta try!". Life is full of events that you wish would just pass by in warp speed, however, sometimes you just have to just do it!
